Carbon Steel is the alloy composition that gives steel its level of mechanical resistance. Carbon is the main hardening element in relation to iron. Other elements, such as manganese, silicon and phosphorus, also participate in adjusting the level of steel resistance. The amount of Carbon defines its classification: low carbon has a maximum of 0.30% of the element; medium carbon has 0.30% to 0.60% and high carbon has 0.60% to 1.00%. Its main application is in the conduction of fluids, structural and mechanical purposes.
